Rainbow Wahine Drop to Fourth on Day Two of WAC Championships

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The University of Hawai`i women's swimming and diving team dropped a spot to fourth on Day Two of the Western Athletic Conference Championships at the Palo Alto College Natatorium. UH currently has 180 points, behind Southern Methodist University (325), Nevada (233), and Rice (184).

Freshman Jessica Affleck finished seventh overall in the 500 Free(4:56.69).

In the 200 IM, sophomore Yan Chen touched the wall at 1:59.79, finishing second overall and earning an NCAA automatic qualifying time. She also broke her own school record by .04 seconds set this past fall.

Junior YingJuan Zhen finished fifth in the finals in the 50 Free (23.41) with an NCAA "B" standard qualifying time.

Diver Maggie Roberts, a sophomore, scored a 258.95 in the 1-meter event, placing third overall. Teammates Victorya Moreno, a frosh, and Jenalin Miller, a junior, did not advance to the finals. Moreno scored 217.70 and placed 10th in the preliminaries while Miller posted a score of 183.95 and finished 13th.

UH scored additional points in the 200 Free Relay, as the team of Morgan Hoesterey, Stephanie Regucera, Michelle Vos and Zhen posted a time of 1:35.82 and placed fourth.

The action continues Friday morning at 11 a.m. with preliminaries, followed by the finals at 6:30 p.m.
