HONOLULU - The University of Hawai`i Rainbow Wahine swimming and diving
squad defeated the San Diego State University Aztecs tonight by a score
of 148-88 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. The women improved
to 5-10 this season in dual meets.
Long distance swimmer Jessica Affleck, a freshman from Australia, displayed fantastic stamina as she captured the first place finish in both the 1000 and 500 Free. Affleck flew to finish the 1000 Free at 10:07.38 and the 500 free at 4:58.57, earning the fastest time of the season.
YingJuan Zhen, a junior from China, also got untracked tonight as she
led off the 400 Medley Relay team to a win, while posting a first-place
time in the 200 Back (2:03.04). Zhen also anchored the 200 Free Relay
team as she brought the team from behind to close out the meet.
Jessica Nohara turned in highlights as she swam to finish first in the 100 Free, touching the wall at 54.58. Following her was teammate Stephanie Reguccera, who surpassed her previous best with a time of 54.70.
UH took the top two spots in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events.
Victorya Moreno won the 1-meter (243.15) while setting a new personal
standard in the 3-meter (270.08). Jenalin Miller was second in both as she
scored a 225.35 in the one and a 260.78 in the three.
UH’s final home dual meet of the season in next Saturday, Jan. 25, as
both the Rainbows and Rainbow Wahine host the Washington Huskies teams
at DKAC at noon.
