HONOLULU – The UH swimming and diving team announced the recipients of the 2001-2002 season.
Konstantin Dubrovin and Katia Sarakatsani received the Tammy Tye Outstanding Freshman of the Year Award.
The Corey Carroll Award Outstanding Performance Award was presented to junior Kurt Boehm for the most outstanding performance(s). Senior diver Sarah Farr earned the Jennifer Koprowski Outstanding Performance Award.
The Coaches’ Award is given each season to a swimmer or diver that deserves recognition. This year’s recipients include junior Pat Foley and freshman Karan Toews.
This season’s Soichi Sakamoto Award to an outstanding male and female senior for their leadership, competitive spirit, and scholastic excellence went to diver Eddie Stevens and swimmer Brandie Smith.
Cheyne Bloch earned All-American honors this season in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke events. He also earned this year’s Swimmer-of-the-Year award. Junior Morgan Hoesterey won the women’s Swimmer-of-the-Year Award. Sophomore Mike Gowdy and newcomer Maggie Roberts earned the Diver-of-the-Year awards.
