Warriors Finish in 17th at Western

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. - The University of Hawai‘i men’s golf team finished in 17th place with a 909 total at the Western Intercollegiate, April 9. The Warriors were unable to get anything going in the first two rounds, making their final round 298 a moral victory.

Sophomore Matt Kodama continued a season long trend by leading Hawai‘i with a 224 total. The native of Mead, Wash., finished in a tie for 48th, making it the eighth consecutive tournament in which he has led the Warriors. Senior Norman-Ganin Asao bounced back from a disappointing second round 84, with an even-par round of 70, giving him a 226 total and a tie for 55th.

Washington ran away with the team title after two consecutive rounds under par. Closing with an eight-over-par 288, the Huskies finished with an 834 total, 20-strokes better than runner-up Fresno State. Washington’s charge was led by Conner Robbins, who won medallist honors with an eight-under-par total of 202. Robbins was the only player to have all three rounds under par.
