AUSTIN, TEXAS - University of Hawai`i completed the final day of the 75th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays today with the 1,500 meter run. UH’s Casey McGuire-Turcotte placed 11th overall in the event.
McGuire-Turcotte, who finished with a time of 4:32.75, was one second off her personal best. She was the only Rainbow Wahine runner that competed today.
Yesterday, UH participated in the 4x400 meter run, the Distance Medley Relay, and 3000-meter Steeplechase.
In the 4x400, the team of Natalie Kolodziej, Carolyn Berger, Sadie Martin, and Shayne Enright posted a time of 4 minutes and 09.90 seconds in the preliminaries. They ran in the fifth heat and did not qualify for the finals. Kolodziej ran a 1:00 split followed by Berger’s 1:02, Martin’s 1:04, and Enright’s 1:03.
In the Distance Medley Relay, the four runners -- McGuire-Turcotte, Kolodziej, Alethe West, and Cheryl Smith -- bested their earlier effort in the season at the Occidental Distance Carnival by six seconds.
McGuire-Turcotte ran 1200 meters in 3:34 while Kolodziej went 1:01 in the 400, West sprinted to a time of 2:24 in the 800, and Smith finished with the 1600 in 5:11. Both McGuire-Turcotte and Smith bettered their splits from the Oxy by :10 and :03 seconds, respectively.
In the 3000-meter Steeplechase, Carolyn Berger had one and one-half laps remaining and did not finish.
