Chang Named WAC Offensive Player of the Week

NULL

DENVER - Warrior quarterback Timmy Chang was named Western Athletic Conference Player of the Week after leading UH to a 31-21 comeback win over Fresno State.

The sophomore from Waipahu, Hawaii (St. Louis School), completed 36-of-61 passes for 462 yards and two touchdowns before a national TV audience as UH won for the first time in Fresno since 1973. Chang set career-highs in both completions and yards.

Both of his touchdown passes came in a fourth quarter in which UH scored 22 points. His first strike went 58 yards to Justin Colbert, while his second proved the game-winner, a 13-yarder to Britton Komine on fourth down with 2:25 left in the game.

Chang is currently leading the WAC and is fifth in the nation in total offense (326.8 ypg). The school's all-time leader in passing and total offense has thrown for 2,588 yards and 14 touchdowns through eight games this year.

Tulsa cornerback Darrell Wimberly and Rice linebacker Adam Herrin were named the WAC defensive and special teams players of the week, respectively.
