BOISE, Idaho – The University of Hawai'i men's basketball team (12-9, 3-5 WAC) heads to the state of Idaho for a pair of Western Athletic Conference road tests, beginning with a contest at Boise State (12-9, 5-4 WAC) on Thursday, Feb. 3. Tip-off is set for 7:05 p.m. MT (4:05 p.m. HT) at the Taco Bell Arena.
Hawai`i is coming off a near-upset of conference leader and then-No. 25 Utah State on Saturday night, falling 89-84 in a dramatic double-overtime loss. Junior
Zane Johnson led the way by tying his career high with 25 points. The loss kept UH in a tie for sixth in the WAC standings with Fresno State. The Rainbow Warriors will look to gain ground this week against Boise State and Idaho, who each sit two games ahead of UH in a tie for fourth.
The Rainbow Warriors have lost seven of its last eight meetings against Boise State and look to avenge a 24-point loss to the Broncos earlier this year in Honolulu. UH was up by two points at halftime in that game, but were out-scored 50-24 in the second half. Boise State is coming off a pair of road losses at New Mexico State (96-87, OT) and Louisiana Tech (70-60).
Following its game against Boise State, the 'Bows will travel to Moscow to face Idaho on Saturday, Feb. 5.
