HONOLULU – The Hawai'i baseball team announced two staff updates (day), as
Dallas Correa was named an assistant coach and Rayson Romero will serve as director of player development.
Correa has served as the Rainbow Warriors' director of player development for the last two seasons under head coach
Rich Hill. In that role, he coordinated day-to-day operations for the baseball program while also working with the team's catchers.
In two seasons with the UH baseball program, Correa has helped lead the team to its two best finishes since joining The Big West. The last two seasons have also marked UH's first two winning Big West seasons.
Prior to arriving at UH, Correa spent three seasons as the head coach at Hawai'i Pacific from 2019-21 after working three years as an assistant coach for the Sharks from 2016-18. The native of Hanapēpē, Kaua'i played collegiately for four seasons at the University of the Pacific.
Romero joins the Rainbow Warrior program after two seasons as an assistant coach at Hawai'i Pacific. During his two seasons, he worked with the Sharks' infielders and hitters and helped HPU post its best team fielding percentage in 10 years at .967 in 2023. He also helped the team finish second in the PacWest with a .291 batting average while leading the league going 95-of-114 in stolen base attempts.
Before working at HPU, Romero spent a year with Inspiration Academy in Florida, serving as director of player development as well as manager of the collegiate summer league team in 2021. A 2014 graduate and first-team all-state shortstop at Saint Louis School, Romero began coaching after playing professionally for the Sonoma Stompers and collegiately at Sonoma State.
