HONOLULU -- The University of Hawai`i Athletics Department's new Print@Home system has been a big hit with UH fans since its debut on April 12.
For the nine sporting events since its launch, 3,336 tickets have been purchased online through HawaiiAthletics.com and 2,485 of those tickets (74 percent) have been printed on the purchasers' home or office computer. Only 851 tickets were picked up at Will Call.
"The fans' response to our new Print@Home system has been overwhelming," Herman Frazier, UH athletics director, said. "We're thrilled that they are taking advantage of the ease and convenience it offers. This has really cut down on customer lines at the ticket and Will Call windows at the events."
The highest percentage of Print@Home users for a single event was 89 percent for the baseball team's contest against Sacramento State last Friday. Of 256 online tickets purchased, 227 were delivered via Print@Home, while only 29 tickets were picked up at Will Call.
For the three-game series with Sacramento State, 848 baseball tickets were purchased online and 696 were delivered via Print@Home (82 percent), while only 153 were picked up at Will Call.
"This is the most tickets we have ever sold online for baseball," Walter Watanabe, UH ticket manager, said. "Fans are clearly enjoying the convenience of printing their tickets at home and eliminating the need to wait in line."
In August, UH will launch two new ticketing features, including an online transfer system that will allow fans to send their tickets to friends and family via e-mail and "Ticket Marketplace," which will allow season-ticket holders to return tickets they are unable to use to the UH system for sale.
