Brian Beckwith and opposite
Lauri Hakala were named Sunday to the All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation first team. Seven total Warriors were recognized on the post-season teams.
Beckwith, who played in 73 of UH's 77 MPSF games, recorded 988 assists for a 13.53 average. The 6-6 junior recorded 32 kills, hit .332, and averaged 0.93 blocks per game.
Hakala played in 74 games and totaled 308 kills in league play for a 4.16 kills per game average and hit .395. The junior also led the squad with 24 aces (0.32 avg.), while recording 1.04 blocks per game.
Also garnering honors were second teamers libero Alfred Reft and outside hitter Matt Carere. Outside hitter Jose Delgado and middle blocker Dio Dante were chosen to the third team, while middle blocker Maulia La Barre made honorable mention.
Reft, a senior, was a first team selection a year ago but edged this season by UC Irvine Brent Asuka, a local product from Honolulu. Reft dug 244 balls in MPSF action for a 2.99 digs per game average.
Carere, a co-captain along with Reft, hit .341 in 75 games. He collected 264 kills for a 3.52 average to go along with 1.64 digs per game.
UH placed Dante and Delgado on the third team. Dante led the MPSF in blocking with a 1.72 average and is currently second in the country in the category. Delgado hit .297 with 270 kills (4.15 avg.) and 14 aces.
La Barre made the honorable mention list hitting .373 and averaged 1.26 blocks in 68 MPSF games.
UC Irvine swept all three individual honors with John Speraw named the MPSF Coach of the Year, Jayson Jablonsky the player of the year, and Asuka the freshman of the year.
