HONOLULU - A total of 168 University of Hawai'i student-athletes achieved a grade point average of 3.0 or better (on a 4.0 scale) during the Fall 2005 semester, Athletics Director Herman Frazier announced today.
"We are proud of each and every one of these student-athletes who have put in the time and effort to achieve their educational goals," Frazier said. "It is a testament to them, their parents, their coaches, their professors, and the academic staff at UH."
Of the 168 student-athletes, 72 were male and 96 were female. Football led the way with 24 players on the list, followed by women's cross country/track & field with 15, and women's soccer with 13.
Many of these student-athletes will be honored at the Scholar-Athlete Breakfast Tuesday, April 25 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The event is sponsored by Sodexho.
