Men’s Volleyball Adds Two More For 2017

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i men's volleyball head coach Charlie Wade announced the addition of two more student-athletes for the 2017 season with the signing of Jack Reese of Fox Chapel High School in Pittsburgh, Pa., and Everett Schuett of Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, Calif.

Reese and Schuett join Moanalua High School's Austin Matautia for the 2017 season.

A 6-foot-7 middle blocker, Reese has played on the Fox Chapel varsity team for the past two seasons and helped the school advance to the PIAA Class AAA Boys' Volleyball Championship as a junior. Reese totaled 10 kills and three blocks in the title match and helped the school to a 19-2 record en route to all-section honors. He had perhaps his best match of his prep career against Bethel Park in the state quarterfinals recording 21 kills and seven blocks.

Reese also plays for Pittsburgh Volleyball Club, where he is the starting middle blocker. This summer he was on the Pittsburgh 17s Black team that tied for 21st in the Club Division of the 2015 Boys Junior National Championships in Columbus, Ohio.

"I'm very impressed with Jack's athleticism," Wade said. "He is a big jumper and legit Division I athlete. He will be a nice athlete to have in our gym. He also shares our view on how hard you are willing to work will determine your level of success both in the classroom and on the court. He will fit in well with the guys we have in the program."

Schuett, a 6-foot-6 opposite and middle blocker currently plays for the Westlake High School indoor and sand volleyball teams. He is a member of the Ventura Country Volleyball Club. Everett's sister Hannah, was a four-year letterwinner for the Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball team.
