Men’s Volleyball Signee Named High School All-American

AVCA Boys' High School All-America List

Kekoa "Koa" Pukahi, a University of Hawai'i men's volleyball incoming freshman, was one of 10 players nationally selected as an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) High School Senior first team All-American.

Pukahi is a 6-foot-5 setter who helped La Costa Canyon High School to the 2014 CIF Open Division Championship. A total of 20 student-athletes were selected to the AVCA first and second teams. Pukahi's teammate, Brad Gretsch, was a second-team pick.

A three-year varsity letterman, Pukahi attended La Costa Canyon for one year after transferring from El Camino High School. As a senior, he led the San Diego Section with 1,121 assists which ranked fifth nationally, and was named the North County Conference's Player of the Year.

In 2013, Pukahi earned all-CIF second team honors as well as first-team all-Avocado League.

Pukahi currently plays for the Coast Volleyball Club. He also played for the Wave Volleyball Club, where he led the team to the silver medal at Junior Olympics and the Seaside Volleyball Club.

Last year, UH freshman Jennings Franciskovic was selected to the AVCA High School Senior All-America first team.
