'Bows Head To Seattle To Open NCAA Tournament

HONOLULU – For the third time in five years, the University of Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will travel to Seattle, Wash. for the NCAA Tournament First & Second rounds, as the NCAA Division I Women's  Volleyball Committee announced Sunday the 64-team field for the 2014 NCAA Women's Volleyball Championship.

The Rainbow Wahine (21-6) take on Duke (22-7), an Atlantic Coast Conference at-large selection, Friday, Dec. 5 in first round action. The host Washington Huskies (29-2) face America East champion New Hampshire in the second contest of the day. The winners face-off in the second round on Saturday, Dec. 6 for a chance to advance to the Seattle Regional.

The 'Bows will be making their 22th consecutive and 33rd overall trip to the postseason.

The Rainbow Wahine faced nearly a month of must-win matches to earn an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament. The 'Bows finished second in the Big West Conference at 13-3 behind Long Beach State.

The NCAA regionals will be held Dec. 12-13 at four predetermined sites – Hilton Coliseum (Ames, Iowa), KFC Yum! Center (Louisville, Ky.), Alaska Airlines Arena (Seattle, Wash.), and Sports Pavilion (Minneapolis, Minn.) Each regional winner will advance to the Final Four in Oklahoma City held at Chesapeake Energy Arena.
