Women's Hoops Signs Stand-out Point Guard

HONOLULU—University of Hawai'i women's basketball head coach Dana Takahara-Dias announced the signing of Alissa Campanero to a National Letter of Intent during the spring signing period. Campanero will join the Rainbow Wahine this fall.

Campanero is a quick, athletic playmaker who is strong on defense and is known to take the ball to the hoop but also has an outside shot that defenders have to respect. The 5-3 point guard will graduate from The Bishop's School in San Diego, Calif. this spring. As a senior, she averaged 16.0 points, 7.2 assists, 3.1 steals and 2.1 rebounds per game for the Knights.

“Alissa is a quick and intelligent point guard who will come in and allow us to push the tempo of the game,” says Takahara-Dias. “She comes from a strong high school program and has a great feel for the game. Do not let her size fool you, she is a tough competitor and has a bright future. We are thrilled that she has decided to join the Rainbow Wahine Basketball `ohana.”
