Box score

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i baseball team defeated Oregon tonight, 11-10, in another comeback win. Breland Almadova's two-RBI hit in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Rainbows the win. UH improves to 2-0 while the Ducks drop to 0-2.

David Peterson led the 'Bows, batting 4-4 with one run and two RBI. Zack Swasey recorded three hits and two RBI and Almadova added two hits, one run, and two RBI.

Aaron Jones led the Ducks in the losing effort, recording three hits, two runs, and one RBI.

Relievers Blair Walters (1-0) for UH and Scott McGough (0-1) for Oregon were the pitchers of record.

Until Almadova's walk-off base hit, the 'Bows never led and trailed by as many as four runs heading into the bottom of the fifth inning. On the heels of doubles by Pi'ikea Kitamura (1-4, 2 R) and Collin Bennett (2-5, 2 R, 1 RBI), UH plated four runs to tie the game at 7-7.

Oregon added a run one inning later, then tacked on another in the eighth inning to take a 9-7 lead. The 'Bows rallied once again. Almadova tripled to start the inning and scored on a wild pitch. Kitamura then tied the game on an inning-ending double play, as his run home from third base beat the final out of the inning.

Oregon scored in the top of the ninth inning, but UH added another two runs on Almadova's gamewinner.

The 'Bows and Ducks retake the field tomorrow for game three of the series. First pitch is set for 1:05 p.m.
