WOODLAND, Calif. – University of Hawai'i sophomore
Nejc Zemljak was named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation men's volleyball academic all-conference team, announced by the conference office. Zemljak made the team in his first year he was eligible to earn the honor.
MSPF executive director Al Beaird announced the 2009 team, which included 42 student-athletes. The criteria included a 3.0 grade point average or better, at least a sophomore academically, have completed one full academic year and must have played in 50 percent or more of the team's games.
The Maribor, Slovenia native started 12 matches at setter and played in 21 matches, averaging 9.72 assists and 1.80 digs per set. Zemljak played in a total of 59 sets.
This season Zemljak helped UH finish ranked No. 15 in the national polls.
