Women's Hoops Hosts Green vs. White Scrimmage on Oct. 26

HONOLULU—Rainbow Wahine basketball fans will get their first glimpse of the 2014-15 University of Hawai'i women's basketball team with its Green vs. White Scrimmage this Sunday, Oct. 26 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The scrimmage will follow the women's volleyball match versus UC Santa Barbara and will begin approximately at 7:00 p.m. Admission to the Green vs. White game is free and gates will open following the conclusion of the volleyball match.
 
The Green Team will be coached by assistant Alex Delanian while the White Team will be lead by assistant coach Dekita Williams. Head coach Laura Beeman and associate head coach Mary Wooley will float between the two teams.
 
The Rainbow Wahine return seven letterwinners—led by all-Big West second team playerShawna-Lei Kuehu (10.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 55 assist, 32 steals) and the conference's "Sixth Woman of the Year,"Ashleigh Karaitiana (10.4 ppg, 5.2 rpg, 39 3-pt FG made). Returnees Morgan Mason (6.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 36 assists) and the versatile Destiny King (8.6 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 72 assists) are also expected to lead the team into the season.
 
Hawai'i welcomes eight newcomers, including five freshmen and three transfers. Breana Jones (Westport, New Zealand/Maryknoll School), Jasmine Redmon (Sacramento, Calif./Monterey Trail HS), Dalayna Sampton (Vallejo, Calif./Florin HS), Justice Toailoa (Hayward, Calif./Salesian HS) and Sarah Toeaina (Covington, Wash./Kentwood HS).  Amongst the three transfer student-athletes, Raja Moreno-Ross (Tucson, Ariz./Pima CC) and Connie Morris (Mesquite, Nev./Salt Lake CC) are both eligible to play this season. Brianna Kennedy (La Verne, Calif./Loyola Marymount) will need to sit out the 2014-15 season after transferring from Loyola Marymount. All three players will have two seasons to play at Hawai'i.
 
The Rainbow Wahine will host one exhibition game on Wednesday, Oct. 29 against UH-Hilo before officially beginning their season on the road at Colorado State on Nov. 14 and Denver on Nov. 16.
