Daniel Lau Named Kane Fernandez Award Recipient

HONOLULU – Daniel Lau, former baseball player and track runner ('40-'41), was honored as the second recipient of the Kane Fernandez Award.

Daniel was presented the award by Sidney (Fernandez) Fasi, UHLWC President Dr. Charles Araki and UH Athletics Director Herman Frazier during a timeout at the UH vs. Fresno State men's basketball game at the Stan Sheriff Center on January 13, 2003.

Daniel, a life member and Board member, is one of the founders, chairman of the board, and director of the Finance Factors family of companies. He is also a trustee of the UH Foundation and a director of the East-West Center Foundation.

This award was inspired by the late Kane Fernandez, CEO and President of Fernandez Entertainment, and founding board member of the LWC. Mr. Fernandez's commitment to giving to the community embodies the spirit of this award which will be bestowed annually to a past letterwinner who has volunteered his or her support unselfishly to further advance the community.
