HONOLULU – In front of a sold out crowd, the University of Hawai'i baseball team defeated No. 9 Oregon, 4-3. The Rainbows rallied from a 3-1 deficit, plating three runs in the eighth inning to take the win. Blair Walters (1-0) earned the win in a relief role, with Porter Clayton (0-1) tagged with the loss for the Ducks.

Kolten Wong and Jeffrey Van Doornum both posted two hits and one run to lead the 'Bows, with Van Doornum adding one RBI. Aaron Jones and Connor Hoffman each batted 2-4 to lead the Ducks, who fall in their season opener.

UH starter Matt Sisto delivered 6.1 strong innings before being spelled by Walters. He allowed two earned runs on six hits with three strikeouts. Oregon starter Tyler Anderson pitched six complete innings, allowing one run on four hits with three strikeouts.

The 'Bows trailed 3-1 in the bottom of the eighth inning before a Van Doornum base hit and a Collin Bennett (1 H, 1 RBI) double tied the game. Michael Blake then scored the game winning run when he scampered home after an Oregon passed ball.

UH closer Lenny Linsky came on to pitch a scoreless ninth inning for the save.

UH moves to 30-10 all-time in season openers.

The 'Bows and Ducks continue their series tomorrow night. First pitch at Les Murakami Stadium is set for 6:35 p.m.
