UH Men Beat Wisconsin In Dual Meet, Women Fall To UW

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's swimming team beat Wisconsin, 139-103 in a dual meet Saturday at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex. The Rainbow Wahine fell to Wisconsin, 180-63 in the meet.
 
The UH men swept the 1650 freestyle final, with Colin Coombs winning the event in a time of 16:28.74. Steve Allnutt finished second and Daniel Worden finished third.
 
The Rainbow Warriors also swept the 200 yard freestyle, with Mark Higley taking home first with a time of 1:40.93. James Clarke finished second and Lazar Bogdanovski finished third. Davis Kane won the 50 yard freestyle in a time of 20.78 and Ilia Reyes finished second in 20.99.
 
In the 100 yard freestyle, Kane won his second event of the day with a time of 45.99, while Sean Reilly finished second and Vlad Anastasescu finished third. Bogdanovski won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 1:49.83 and Clarke won the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 4:35.13.
 
Perry Sharify won the 200 yard backstroke in a time of 2:05.84 and Azad Al-barazi finished second in a time of 2:07.08.
 
In the women's dual meet, Melissa Myers finished third in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:30.52 and in the 200 yard freestyle, Emma Berry finished second with a time of 1:52.77 and Maura Barrett finished third with a time of 1:53.24.
 
Annathea Accornero finished second in the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 52.11 and the team of Barrett, Nicole Larson, Ricarda Schellenberg and Accornero finished third in the 400 yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:33.05.
 
The women's swimming team returns to action in their final home meet of the year against Loyola Marymount on Friday, Jan. 15 at 4 p.m. at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatics Complex.
