Shane Austin throws a pass against Boise State
HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i Warrior football team's slide continued with a 54-9 loss to No. 6 Boise State Saturday night at Aloha Stadium. The Warriors dropped to 2-5 overall and 0-4 in the Western Athletic Conference with its fifth straight loss.

Boise State's Kellen Moore threw four touchdown passes in the first two quarters as the Broncos (7-0, 2-0 WAC) built a comfortable halftime lead  to remain undefeated and cruise to its eighth win over UH in nine WAC meetings.

Playing its first ranked team of the year, Hawai`i turned the ball over six times in less than three quarters with the Broncos scoring 27 of its first 44 points off Warrior miscues. UH had four turnovers in the first half alone and trailed 34-0 by the break, its largest halftime deficit in five years.

Sophomore Shane Austin saw his first collegiate action for the Warriors, filling in for Bryant Moniz, who was knocked out of the game late in the first quarter. Austin finished 22-of-36 for 174 yards and one touchdown. Austin completed his first five passes, and seven of his first eight, but was also intercepted twice, including once in the endzone with the Warriors driving and looking to score in the second quarter. .

The Broncos led 44-0 until UH finally got on the board with 5:52 left in the third quarter as an errant Bronco snap led to a safety. Austin then found Jon Medeiros in the corner of the endzone for a 10-yard connection in the fourth quarter for his first career touchdown pass and UH's lone touchdown of the evening.

The last time UH lost five straight games and its first four WAC games was in 1998. UH also lost consecutive WAC home games for the first time since 1999. The 45-point loss to the Broncos was UH's worst home loss since a 63-17 loss to top-ranked USC in the 2005 season opener.

UH next heads to Reno for a matchup with Nevada on Saturday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. PT (10:05 p.m. HT) at Mackay Stadium.
