HO'OLEHUA, Moloka'i—The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team concluded its first trip to Moloka'i with a three-set intrasquad scrimmage at The Barn in Ho'olehua, Moloka'i on Saturday afternoon.
Fans were able to watch the Rainbow Wahine run a full practice before beginning their intraquad scrimmage. With players interchanging coaches were able to try different combinations through three sets. The home team won all three sets. Participating in the scrimmage were all of the current Rainbow Wahine for the 2018 season.
Fans were able to get a glimpse at the two newest Rainbow Wahine transfers--Reyn "Tita" Akiu who transferred from Texas Tech for her senior season. She is a 2015 graduate of Kamehameha Schools—Kapalama. The second transfer is 6-1 middle blocker Sarah Liva who played her first two seasons at Portland State before transferring last year to play one year of basketball at Hawaii Pacific. She joins her brother Isaac Liva at UH, who is a member of the men's volleyball team.
Three seniors who will be graduating this spring also helped play in the scrimmage—
Savanah Kahakai,
Kendra Koelsch, and
Clare-Marie Anderson, for whom this trip was a homecoming for as she grew up on the "Friendly Isle".
Following the scrimmage the 'Bows held an autograph session before flying home to O'ahu.
