SEATTLE – The University of Hawai'i cross country team will take on its next challenge on Friday, closing up the 2017 campaign in the NCAA West Regional at Seattle's Jefferson Park Golf Course.
Traveling a five-runner contingent, the Rainbow Wahine will face this course for the second time this season, previously competing at the Sundodger Invitational in mid-September; then just the third meet of the season.
All five runners –
Alison Bowman,
Giovanna Casazza,
Danielle Girard,
Kai Hoshijo and
Sienna Santiago – will be competing in their first career NCAA postseason event. Girard paces UH with the fastest 6k mark of 22:31.5, recorded at the Big West Championships in her debut at the distance.
Hosted by the University of Washington, the women's 6k begins competition for the day, with the starting gun sounding at 8:30 a.m. HT (10:30 a.m. PT) at Jefferson Park. The course consists of multiple 2k loops on flat fairways crossing some cart paths, and is a mixture of grass, dirt, light gravel and bark chips.
At last year's NCAA Regional in Sacramento, Calif., UH finished 25th as a team and was paced by
Camille Campos' 35th-place finish. This marks the third consecutive year the Rainbow Wahine take a full squad to the Regional, following a four-year team absence at the event.
For paid subscribers to FloTrack's FloPro service, the event will be streamed live from Seattle. Live results from the meet will be posted at
Record Timing. Complete meet information can be found on the
Washington cross country website.
