ESPN College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon Schedule
HONOLULU – For the ninth straight year, the University of Hawai'i men's basketball team will participate in ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon. UH's Outrigger Rainbow Classic match-up against Florida Atlantic on Nov. 14 will be broadcast live on ESPN2 at 11:15 p.m. HT.
"It's always great to be involved in this first-class event," head coach
Eran Ganot said. "The late tip provides a unique atmosphere for our fans and players and has produced some of our school's more memorable moments. Coming off a season in which we had a dozen national and regional TV appearances, this continues our emphasis on branding the program."
UH will now play in a total of six nationally-televised games during this year's non-conference schedule. The Rainbow Warriors will also appear on the ESPN family of networks three times during the Hawaiian Airlines Diamond Head Classic (Dec. 22, 23 & 25) and twice on Fox Sports 1 during the Pearl Harbor Invitational (Dec. 6 & 7).
UH's contest against Florida Atlantic will be the final game of the season-opening Outrigger Rainbow Classic. SIU Edwardsville and Texas State are the other teams in the round-robin tournament, which enters its 52nd year.
This will be the second meeting between the Rainbow Warriors and Florida Atlantic out of Conference USA. UH defeated the Owls, 87-60, at home during the 1999-2000 season.
ESPN's ninth annual College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon—consecutive live college basketball games to celebrate the start of the season—will feature 13 men's and women's college basketball games across ESPN and ESPN2. The schedule includes 11 men's games and two top-15 women's matchups.
The Rainbow Warriors have had the same late-night affair the last eight years and have gone 5-3 in those contests, including last year's thrilling 76-75 victory over Nevada in the title game of the Outrigger Rainbow Classic.
