HONOLULU—University of Hawai'i head softball coach announced the signing of Carly Pinaon Wednesday. She is the sixth player to sign with the Rainbow Wahine to play in 2016.
 
Pina is a 5-8" power-hitting third baseman who hit .308? in conference ?for St. Lucy's Priory High School in Glendora, Calif. This past season, she earned all-league honorable mention honors after being selected all-league second team last year as a junior. Pina hit six home runs for her travel ball team last season. 

"Carly will compete for a starting job at 3B," Coolen says. "We want to develop her strength as a power hitter."
