Kemoeatu Brothers To Serve As Honorary Captains

Former NFL players Chris and Ma'ake Kemoeatu will serve as the University of Hawai'i's honorary captains for Saturday's "Senior Night" game against UNLV.

Kick-off is 6:00 p.m. at Hawaiian Airlines Field at Aloha Stadium. The Kemoeatu brothers will accompany UH's game captains at midfield for the pre-game coin toss.

The brothers gained national fame recently after Maake relinquished his NFL career by donating his kidney to his ailing brother Chris, who was forced to retire in 2012.

Both graduates of Kahuku High School and the University of Utah, Ma'ake played 11 seasons in the NFL, primarily with the Baltimore Ravens, where he was a member of the 2013 Super Bowl champion squad. Chris enjoyed a seven-year career with the Pittsburgh Steelers and appeared in three Super Bowls, winning two (2006 & '09).

Both retired, the brothers founded Pacific Elite Sports Fitness Center in Kailua.

Previous honorary captains this season include Rick Blangiardi (Washington), Rockne Freitas (Oregon State), Governor Neil Abercrombie (Northern Iowa), Michael Carter (Wyoming), Agenhart Ellis Jr. (Nevada), and Teresa Tyler (Utah State).
