HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i women's volleyball head coach Dave Shoji announced the signing of four recruits for the 2014 season. The class includes Kalei Greeley of Riverside, Calif., Savanah Kahakai of Honolulu, Emily Maglio of Coquitlam, British Columbia, and Megan Huff of Auburn, Wash. "The scholarship players coming in next year will allow our program to be successful in the future," praised Shoji. "They will provide a solid foundation for the coming years and we are looking forward to developing this class."
 
Kalei Greeley, a 6-2 outside hitter, was the 2012 CIF Southern Section Division II Player of the Year at King High School and is ranked No. 35 on PrepVolleyball.com's Senior Aces list. "Kalei is a six-rotation player," said Shoji of Greeley, who was also a standout performer at Rancho Valley Volleyball Club. "We feel she is going to be a force for the Rainbow Wahine in the future. She has good size, moves well, and can play on the left or the right."
 
Savanah Kahakai, a 5-8 libero from Farrington High School in Honolulu, is expected to see action right away. "We feel like Savanah can contribute to our program right away at defensive specialist or libero," said Shoji of Kahakai, who led her Farrington team to this year's state tournament. "She is an accomplished hitter but it is her back row skills that will allow her to contribute more significantly." Kahakai also plays for the 'Imi 'Ike Volleyball Club in Honolulu.
 
Emily Maglio, a 6-2 middle, joins the Rainbow Wahine from British Columbia, Canada. "Emily is an athlete we've been following for two years now," commented Shoji. "We feel she has the athletic ability to contribute to the program right away." Maglio is currently playing for the Pinetree Timberwolves high school and led her club team, the Coquitlam-area Ducks, to the Canadian national championships two years ago.
 
Megan Huff will look to impact the 'Bows on either the outside or in the middle. "Megan is a highly talented basketball player and didn't start to take volleyball seriously until two years ago," said Shoji of his 6-3 hitter. "She has the size and athletic ability that will allow her to develop into a top collegiate player." Huff led Beamer High School this past season with 212 kills and 54 aces and was a first team all-Puget Sound League selection. Also playing for the Puget Sound Volleyball Academy, she helped her PSVBA squad win gold in the Patriot Division of the 2013 Girls Junior National Championships.
