MIAMI, Fla.—The 54th-ranked University of Hawai'i women's tennis team (1-1, 1-0 Big West) travels across the country to Miami, Fla. to play in the 2013 Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Kick-Off Weekend tournament. No. 9 Miami will serve as a host for the four-team bracket with No. 37 Arizona State, No. 44 Oklahoma, and Hawai'i. It is one of 16 sites for the national tournament.
The Rainbow Wahine will open against the host Hurricanes who had to replace three of its top five players from last season, in which they finished in the top 30. Currently four Hurricanes are currently in the top 100 of the ITA Women's Singles Rankings—No. 51 Kelsey Laurente, No. 57 Lina Lileikite, No. 88 Nicolle Stracar, and No. 92 (T) Stephanie Wagner.
The match between UH and Miami will take place on Friday, Jan. 25 at 10:00 am with Arizona State and Oklahoma squaring off at 2:00 pm later that afternoon at Miami's Neil Schiff Tennis Center. On Saturday, Jan. 26, the Consolation Match between the two losing schools will start at 10:00 am with the Championship Match beginning at 2:00 pm.
The Rainbow Wahine evened their overall record at 1-1 with a conference opening win over Cal Poly this past Monday, 5-2.
