HONOLULU – The No. 54 University of Hawai'i women's tennis team continues their four-week homestand with one match this Saturday, Jan. 19 against No. 47 Washington at the UH Tennis Complex starting at 11:00 am.
The Rainbow Wahine have struggled in their first two tournaments this season, facing No. 3 Duke in the Rainbow Wahine Spring Invitational and No. 7 California and Hawai'I Pacific this past weekend in the Weinman Foundation Invitational. The 'Bows' match against UW will be their first official dual match of the season.
Leading the way for UH will be senior
Katarina Poljakova who is currently ranked No. 23 all-time in school history with 48 career singles victories. Also looking to contribute greatly this season are returnees
Kelsey Daguio,
Rebecca Faltusz,
Martina Kostalova, and
Xenia Suworowa. Rookies
Daisy Green,
Kelly Domingo and
Paulina Petriskova are also looking to make their mark on the team. On the final day of the Weinman Foundation Inviational, it was Petriskova who had UH's closest match of the day, falling to Cal's Laura Posylkin, 5-7, 6-3, 5-7.
Hawai'i will end its homestand next week Monday with its Big West Conference opener against Cal Poly on Jan. 21 at 9:00 am.
