HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i women's volleyball team returns to the court this week for a Spring exhibition match versus Nittaidai of Japan on Wednesday, Mar. 14 at the Stan Sheriff Center. The match will be the first of two Spring contests for the Rainbow Wahine. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
Hawai'i has a long history with Nittaidai, starting when Head Coach
Dave Shoji took his team over to Japan in 1979. Since then, the teams have played each other over 20 times. The two squads were last scheduled to play an exhibition match in 2001, but the plans were changed due to the tragedies of Sept. 11.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for senior citizens (65+), and $4 for students ages 4-high school. UH-Manoa students receive admission with a valid UHM ID.
The Rainbow Wahine (31-2 in 2011) finished the season ranked No.5 in the final 2011 AVCA national poll after advancing to the NCAA Honolulu Regional. The 'Bows won the Western Athletic Conference for the 16th time with an unblemished 14-0 record, and will play next season as a member of the Big West Conference.
