Friesen Earns Fourth One-Meter Title On Second Day Of WAC Championship

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – The University of Hawai'i women's swimming & diving team completed its second day at the Western Athletic Conference Championships at the Palo Alto College Natatorium, remaining in second place.

After winning two of the day's five events, the Rainbow Wahine earned a total of 215 points to put them in second behind defending champion Boise State (281). San Jose State is third with 193 points, just ahead of Northern Arizona with 190. New Mexico State is fifth with 136 followed by Fresno State (102), Nevada (86) and Idaho (79).
 
The diving team dominated the one-meter dive with four divers finishing in the top seven. Senior Emma Friesen won the event for the fourth time in five years with a score of 292.20. Sophomore Hannah Bocksnick followed in third with 274.35 points. Friesen's win marks the eighth straight year that a UH diver has won the event.
 
Taylor Ritenberg led the Rainbow Wahine, winning the 200 IM with a time of 2:00.66. Other top finishes for UH include a fourth place finish in the 50 free (23.09) by senior Maura Barrett and a third place finish in the 200 free relay. A team of Barrett, Christa Prior, Annathea Accornero, and Alyssa Hozack posted a time of 1:32.44.
 
Action continues all day tomorrow with the 400 IM, 100 fly, 200 free, 100 breast, 100 back, 3-meter dive and 400 Medley relay events
