H-Files: A Student-Athlete Spotlight On Kalei Adolpho

HawaiiAthletics.com continues its weekly series "H-Files", which spotlights a student-athlete of the week. Each week we catch up with a different student-athlete from one of UH's 21 intercollegiate sports. Freshman Kalei Adolpho of the Rainbow Wahine volleyball team is this week's student-athlete of the week.

You are the first player from Molokai to play volleyball here at UH, what does
that mean to you?
It just means that I have an opportunity, to be an example for everyone on Molokai. I guess all the younger athletes, and my siblings, or former teammates and people that want to go and play somewhere or just go to college in general, just an opportunity for me to be an example.

What is your earliest memory of playing volleyball?
I started playing volleyball my freshman year of high school. My earliest memory I think would be going to tryouts for high school and not knowing anything that was going on.

What is one thing people don't know about you?
I don't like odd numbers.

What is your biggest athletic thrill?
My biggest athletic thrill, I guess being here, just being able to play division I.

What is one thing you can't live without?
I can't live without my family.

You are also going to play basketball this year, will that be challenging?
Well I think its definitely a little more challenging, just because it's at a high level. But um, what I think I'm used to is not having breaks, I think if I get breaks I don't know what to do with myself because in high school I always had something. I know it will be more challenging, but I'm confident I can do it.

What is your best experience with UH volleyball?
I don't if there is a specific experience, but just the whole thing in general, is just such an amazing experience. The crowd during the games is just so energetic; there is so much I guess energy coming from them. Traveling, this past road trip was really cool just traveling with the college team and how it works and stuff. Just the whole thing in general is cool.
