‘Ohana Volleyfest To Kick-off Men’s Volleyball Season

HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's volleyball team will host the 'Ohana Volleyfest immediately following the men's basketball game, Saturday, Jan. 8 at the Stan Sheriff Center.
 
Admission to the Volleyfest is free. The event will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m., and will follow the UH-Boise State men's basketball game. Fans attending the men's basketball game are encouraged to stay and will be treated to entertainment and giveaways. All others fans will be allowed into the Stan Sheriff Center near the conclusion of the men's basketball game.
 
The event will include the introduction of the 2011 men's volleyball team. The team will then begin drills which includes a fastest serve contest and bounce-meter for the highest bounce of the volleyball.
 
The team will be split in half along with a group of celebrities for one-set to 25 points. The event concludes with an autograph session on the concourse level where fans will receive a free poster courtesy of Chevron Hawai'i.
 
Head coach Charlie Wade begins his second season with the Warriors. Last season, UH finished 19-10 and advanced to the semifinals of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship tournament.
 
The Warriors welcome back four starters including AVCA National Newcomer of the Year Jonas Umlauft and All-American Joshua Walker.
