HONOLULU – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's tennis programs announce the formation of the UH Tennis Alumni Club (UHTAC). The club looks to re-connect with former UH tennis players, promoting pride and fellowship, while also providing assistance to the program's current student-athletes.
Members will receive team gear, invitations to various clinics throughout the year, and a spot in the annual alumni tournament and mixer in the spring. Members will also gain the opportunity to cultivate relationships with current players and coaches. Membership fees will help fund team equipment, travel and other expenses.
The newly-established alumni club is affiliated with the UH Ohana Tennis (UHOT) booster club. Shortly after forming in March, UHOT raised more than $10,000 for court enhancements including new court light bulbs, windscreens, net straps, and various repairs in preparation for the 2009 WAC Tournament. The club aims to raise even more funds in hopes of hosting future NCAA events.
UH Tennis alums Justin Iwase (1999-98) and Kana Aikawa (2004-07) are the chairpersons for both the men and women's alumni club, respectively. For more information on the joining the club, contact Iwase (jiwase@hotmail.com) and Aikawa (
