FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – University of Hawai`i swimmer
Luca Mazzurana won the 100-meter butterfly at the 2009 U.S. Open Swimming National Championships in Federal Way, Washington.
Mazzurana turned on the afterburners to claim the men's 100 fly title in 52.78. He clocked a 28.00 coming home after turning fourth with a 24.78. Mazzurana beat some of the best swimmers in the United States, along with the best in the world.
Mazzurana was representing the UH swim club, and redshirted at UH last season as a freshman.

Ilia Reyes will be competing at the championships this weekend.
The U.S. Open National Championships run from Aug. 4 through Aug. 8 in Federal Way, Wash.
