DENVER – The University of Hawai'i women's water polo team had three players earn Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches All-American honors.
Kelly Mason was named to the first team, while
Leonie Van Der Molen was named to the third team and
Dagmar Genee was named honorable mention.
Mason was named an All-American for the fourth straight year, as she ended her senior season with her second straight first team honor. As a freshman and sophomore she was named to the third team.
The first team honor for Mason is just the fourth first team honor all-time for UH. Three of the first team honors have come under head coach
Michel Roy.
“It's a great honor for Kelly, Leonie and Dagmar,” Roy said. “They all had unbelievable seasons and helped lead us to the NCAA Championship. I'm proud of them.”
Van Der Molen is coming off an outstanding sophomore season and earned her first All-American honor. Van Der Molen was named to the NCAA Championship All-Tournament team and was also an honorable mention MPSF player.
Genee came on strong for UH as a sophomore, earning her first All-American honor. At the NCAA Championship, Genee scored four goals in three games.
In Roy's seven years at UH, he has produced 18 All-Americans. UH has had three or more All-Americans for five straight seasons.
