HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's basketball team held its annual awards banquet Monday night at The Willows restaurant in Honolulu, honoring three seniors and handing out awards to the team.
The banquet featured dinner and an awards presentation, with Billy V serving as the emcee. The first award of the night went to sophomore
Keisha Kanekoa, who was named the Offensive Player of the Year. Kanekoa led the team in scoring, averaging 11 points per game and led the team in assists, dishing out 2.8 per game.
The Defensive Player of the Year award went to junior
Dita Liepkalne, and the Ah Chew Goo award went to senior
Catherine Cho. Liepkalne was the only player to start every game of the Rainbow Wahine this season and Cho earned a scholarship in her senior season after working hard for three previous seasons as a walk-on.
