Water Polo Lands Three Players On All-MPSF Team

WOODLAND, Calif. – The University of Hawai`i women's water polo team had three players earn all-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation postseason honors, announced today by the conference office.
 
Senior Kelly Mason was named to the First Team, an honor she has received for the third straight year. Sophomore Leonie Van Der Molen was named Honorable Mention and freshman Monika Eggens was named to the all-Freshman Team.
 
Mason finished the season among the team leaders and goals and has anchored the fourth-ranked Rainbow Wahine all season. Since arriving at UH from Auckland, New Zealand, Mason has been named First Team for three straight years and was named Honorable Mention her freshman season.
 
Van Der Molen led UH in goals during the regular season and was rewarded with her second postseason award in as many seasons. Last year she was named to the all-Freshman Team. Van Der Molen finished the regular season with 47 goals.
 
Freshman Monika Eggens followed in her sisters footsteps and was named all-Freshman Team this season. Carmen Eggens, was named all-Freshman last year. Monika Eggens scored 22 goals during the regular season and came on strong towards the end of the year.
 
The MPSF Player of the Year honor went to USC's Kami Craig and the MPSF Newcomer of the Year went to Stanford's Melissa Seidemann. San Jose State's Lou Tully was named the Coach of the Year.
