LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team concludes Western Athletic Conference play with three matches on the road, beginning with No. 15 Fresno State on Friday, April 17. UH will also play Idaho and New Mexico State. All three matches will be held at the NM State Tennis Center.
After losing five of their last six dual matches, the Rainbow Wahine (10-11) have won two of their last three dual matches, their loss coming against No. 56 Nevada on the road. UH swept both Louisiana Tech and Utah State 7-0 and are 2-2 in WAC play. Hawai'i currently sits in the sixth spot in the WAC standings after four conference matches.

Sophie Kobuch has been playing solid tennis and leads the team with a 15-11 overall record, including 5-1 mark at the No. 2 court. Kobuch has also won five of her last seven dual singles matches. Meanwhile, freshman
Anja-Vanessa Peter is second on the team with a 13-12 overall record. Peter has won five of her last seven dual singles matches.

Recapping Last Week
The University of Hawai'i women's tennis team opened Western Athletic Conference play on the road with four matches. The Rainbow Wahine went 2-2, sweeping both Utah State and Louisiana Tech. Both losses came against ranked teams, No. 38 Boise State and No. 56 Nevada. UH's match against San Jose State was cancelled due to inclement weather.
WAC Features Top Ranked Teams
The Western Athletic Conference is once again gaining national attention in the rankings. Fresno State leads the WAC ranked No. 15. Boise State is ranked No. 36 followed by Nevada at No. 63. The WAC Championships will once again be a tough fight for the Rainbow Wahine.

Jun Hernandez, who returns for his fourth season, has put together a competitive schedule this season. The schedule includes the likes of nationally ranked teams such as Stanford, UC Irvine, UCLA, Washington State, Arizona, Washington, Illinois, Marshall, Boise State, Fresno State, and Nevada. In all, UH will face 11 ranked teams.
UH Hosts WAC Championships
The Western Athletic Conference will be holding its tennis championships in Honolulu at the UH Tennis Complex. The championships run from April 23-26. UH also hosted the WAC Championships in 2005 and 1984. Last season, the championships were held in Las Cruces, N.M.
