AUSTIN, Texas – University of Hawai`i freshmen divers
Daniella Nero and
Douglas Cohen just missed qualifying for the NCAA Championships on the last day of the NCAA Zone E Qualifying on Saturday afternoon in Austin, Texas.
Cohen, a freshman on the men's team, finished in fifth in the platform final with a score of 636.20. The top-3 divers advance to the NCAA Championships.
Nero, a freshman on the women's team, finished 13th in the platform final with a score of 394.55.
Junior
Emma Friesen didn't compete in the platform final after winning the 1-meter and 3-meter finals the two previous days. Friesen advanced to the NCAA Championships for the third year in a row. She is also the defending NCAA 1-meter champion.
The NCAA Championships begin Thursday, March 19 in College Station, Texas. Seven women divers advanced from Zone E, and six men's divers advanced.
