HONOLULU – The University of Hawai`i women's diving team is sending two divers to the NCAA Zone E qualifying, which begins Thursday in Austin, Texas. The three-day event will run Thursday through Saturday.

 

Junior Emma Friesen and freshman Daniella Nero will be representing the Rainbow Wahine in Austin, Texas.

 

Friesen won the NCAA 1-meter championship last season and is coming off an impressive WAC Championship. Friesen won the 1-meter and 3-meter titles at the WAC Championships and was named the WAC Diver of the Year.

 

Friesen also broke the WAC 1-meter record, and diving coach Mike Brown won his fourth straight Coach of the Year honor. Nero, finished in fifth in the 3-meter and seventh in the 1-meter at the WAC Championships, qualifying for Zone E.

 

NCAA Zone E Qualifying begins on Thursday, March 12 and runs through Saturday, March 14. The NCAA Championships begin Thursday, March 19 and run through Saturday, March 21 in College Station, Texas, hosted by the Texas A&M University.
