Men’s Swimming And Diving Captures Two Gold Medals Friday

Day 3 Results

HOUSTON – The University of Hawai`i men's swimming and diving team had two individual gold medals and two silver medals on the third day of the Conference USA Championships on Friday at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas.
 
Senior Greg Wilson won the 100-yard butterfly in 47.85, just shy of setting a meet record. Senior Nicola Xella matched Wilson with a gold medal on Friday, winning the 100-yard breaststroke in 54.86.
 
UH remained in second place following the third day with 506.5 points. SMU continues to lead with 619 points and East Carolina sits in third with 358 points.
 
The Rainbow Warriors had a second place finish by Douglas Cohen in the 3-meter final, finishing with 345.50 points. Thomas Rugg placed third behind Cohen with 289.05 points.
 
The team of Davis Kane, Horativ Anastasescu, Mark Higley and Sean Reilly led UH to a second place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
The final day of the event begins at 10 a.m. CT, Saturday with the preliminaries of the 200-yard back, 100-yard free, 200-yard breast, 200-yard butterfly and 1650 free. Men's and women's platform diving preliminaries will begin around 1 p.m CT, The finals for those events are slated to begin around 6 p.m. CT and the event will conclude with the trophy presentation and specialty award announcements.
