Friesen Breaks WAC Record, Women’s Swimming And Diving In Third

Day 2 Results

SAN ANTONIO – University of Hawai`i junior Emma Friesen broke the WAC 1-meter diving record, while the team sits in third place following Thursday's events at the Western Athletic Conference Championships at the Palo Alto Natatorium in San Antonio, Texas.
 
Friesen, the defending NCAA Champion on the 1-meter, broke the WAC 1-meter record Thursday with a score of 338.40. Friesen won the 1-meter for the third straight year at the WAC Championships.
 
The Rainbow Wahine relay team of Karli Rice, Victoria Tan, Maura Barrett and Elliko Heimbach also won a gold in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in 1:32.91.
 
Heimbach also had a great day for UH, winning an individual gold in the 50-yard freestyle, finishing with a time of 23.16.
 
In the 500-yard freestyle final, Emma Berry finished in third place with a time of 4:59.68. Through seven events, the Rainbow Wahine sit in third place, behind Northern Arizona and Nevada.
 
Action continues on Friday with finals in the 400 individual medley, 100 butterfly, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke, 3-meter diving and 400 medley relay.
