Day 1 Results
HOUSTON – The University of Hawai`i men's swimming and diving team opened the Conference USA Championships on Wednesday afternoon in second place after two events at the CRWC Natatorium in Houston, Texas.
The championships began with the 200-yard medley relay, where UH finished second behind SMU. The Rainbow Warriors, which included Horativ Anastasescu,
Nicola Xella,
Sean Reilly and
Davis Kane, finished in a time of 1:28.61.
The second final of the day was the 800-yard freestyle relay, where the team of Anastasescu,
Matt Dentone, Steve Allnutt and
Mark Higley finished third with a time of 6:37.23. SMU won the event, with North Dakota finishing second.
UH had a strong showing in the 1-meter preliminaries, as
Douglas Cohen and
Thomas Rugg had the second and third top times, respectively. Cohen scored 290.00 and Rugg scored 261.50.
The second day of the championships on Thursday, include the 500-yard freestyle final, the 200-yard individual medley final and the 50-yard freestyle final.
