Rainbow Wahine Finish Fourth At USF Women’s Intersectional

TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Hawaii Rainbow Wahine sailing team raced to the lead after the first day of competition, but couldn't hold on in finishing fourth at the South Florida Women's Intersectional, Feb. 21-22.

The Rainbow Wahine sported a nine-point edge over Navy after 10 races on Saturday. But UH faltered on the second day of competition with teams in both the A and B divisions slipping to fourth place and Navy edging the Coast Guard for the regatta title. Navy scored a regatta-low 128 points, while UH finished 19 points off the pace with 147.

A total of nine schools participated in the event with 18 races completed. Hannah Tuson-Turner and Tahnee Allman scored 75 points for UH in the A division, while Becky Mabardy, Jessi Locke and  Jackie McLoughlin scored 72 points in the B division.

Next up for the Rainbow Wahine is another trip to the East Coast as UH competes in the St. Mary's Women's Intersectional in Maryland, March 21-22.
