CALGARY – University of Hawai`i junior diver
Emma Friesen finished in fourth on the 1-meter and fifth on the 3-meter at the Canadian Winter Senior National Championships over the weekend in Calgary.
Friesen, a junior at UH, was competing as an individual at the nationals. Friesen scored 252.60 during the finals for her fourth place finish. After the preliminary rounds, Friesen had the highest score going into the finals.
On the 3-meter, Friesen finished fifth and was named to the Canadian National Diving Team following her two performances.
“Emma had some excellent results having placed first and second in the preliminary contests against Canada's best divers,” UH diving coach
Mike Brown said. “Hopefully it will be a good learning experience as she prepares for the WAC Championships and the NCAA qualifying meet.”
Also competing as an individual was
Stephanie De Lima, who finished 13
th on the 1-meter and 18
th on the 3-meter.
