Men's And Women's Diving Finishes Strong In Austin

AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Hawai'i men's and women's diving teams earned high marks over the weekend at the Texas Hall of Fame Diving Invitational. On the men's side, UH earned a total of three top-eight scores in the finals, while the women had two top-eight finishes on the three-meter dive.
 
Sophomores Douglas Cohen and Thomas Rugg both took top-eight times on the men's one-meter. Cohen placed third with a score of 312.75, while Rugg finished fifth with a score of 298.45. In the men's three-meter dive, Cohen also made the top-eight cut for UH with a final score of 311.00 putting him in eighth place.
 
For the Rainbow Wahine, freshman Hannah Bocksnick and sophomore Stephanie De Lima placed sixth and seventh, respectively, on the three-meter board. Bocksnick earned a final score of 276.65 and DeLima earned a score of 266.40.
 
In the one-meter event, both divers came close to moving onto the final round, but were just shy of top-eight finishes. Bocksnick missed the finals, finishing preliminaries in ninth place with a score of 230.70. DeLima followed close behind with a score of 228.10, landing her in 11th place.
 
Both UH men's and women's team excelled in the platform dive on the final day of invitational. Cohen and Rugg took fourth and fifth place, respectively, scoring 255.35 and 245.05 for the men. On the women's side DeLima finished fifth with a score of 233.45 while Bocksnick finished 14th, scoring 184.85 points.
 
The UH diving teams return home next to host the Hawai'i Diving Invite from Jan. 6-7 at the Duke Kahanamoku Aquatic Complex.
