Danielson Earns CoSIDA Second Team Academic All-District Honors

HONOLULU – University of Hawai'i sophomore outside hitter Kanani Danielson earned second team Academic All-District 8 honors, selected by CoSIDA and announced on Thursday afternoon.

Danielson was selected by the coaches as the WAC Preseason Player of the Year and is a four-time WAC Player of the Week this season. Danielson currently leads the WAC in kills (4.03) and points (4.55).

The sophomore has started in 22 of UH's 23 matches at outside hitter and earned Most Outstanding Player during two tournaments hosted by UH earlier this season, to go along with her WAC awards.

Danielson has recorded over 20 kills three times this season, including tying her career-high 22 kills, twice. Last season Danielson was an AVCA All-American, making the third team as a freshman.

In order to be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at her current institution and have reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
