Men’s Swimming Finishes Second, Women Finish Eighth At Toshiba Classic

LONG BEACH, Calif. – The University of Hawai'i men's swimming team finished second at the Toshiba Classic, hosted by UC San Diego in Long Beach, Calif., while the women's team finished in eighth on the final day Saturday evening.
 
The Rainbow Warriors placed second out of 14 teams with 1,109 points, behind first-place Stanford. The Rainbow Wahine finished eighth, out of 24 teams with 313 points.
 
During Saturday's final day, the men's 400 freestyle relay team of Davis Kane, Ilia Reyes, Sean Reilly and Mark Higley took first place with a time of 2:59.92.
 
In the 200 butterfly final, Luca Mazzurana finished third with a time of 1:47.26. Perry Sharify finished third in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:02.77 and Lazar Bogdanovski finished third in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:45.43.
 
On the women's side, the 400 freestyle relay team of Maura Barrett, Karli Rice, Alyssa Woodliff and Annathea Accornerro finished 10th with a time of 3:29.06. In the 200 breaststroke, Katie Edwards finished ninth with a time of 2:18.47 and Amanda McTeague finished 12th in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 16:58.19.
 
The men's and women's swimming teams completed the fall season of the schedule and will be back in action in January.
